Father and son killed in Central City double homicide

Police arrested 21-year-old Ronell Reeder after he turned himself in while they were investigating the scene.

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department has arrested a suspect after two men were fatally shot in Central City Thursday morning.

A family member identified the victims as Douglas Patterson and his adult son Dalton Reeder.

The shooting happened at about 4:20 a.m. on the corner of S. White Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Detectives say police responded to a call of shots fired and found one man shot dead and another man also fatally shot and lying in the driveway.

Police arrested 21-year-old Ronell Reeder after he turned himself in while they were investigating the scene.

Reeder will be booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on two counts of second-degree murder.

"All of violent crime, all violent, is tragic, and is disconcerting for neighbors for our city," said Chief Kirkpatrick.
