Investigators say the first assault happened at North Broad and St. Louis Street. The second occurred in the 3700 block of Conti Street.

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department has arrested a man who allegedly sexually assaulted two women who were walking or jogging on the Lafitte Greenway on Thursday, as The Times-Picayune reports.

Police have arrested Joseph C. Davis, 38, late Saturday in connection to the two separate sexual assaults on women jogging along the Lafitte Greenway.

Investigators say the first assault happened at North Broad and St. Louis Street at about 7:10 a.m.  The second occurred in the 3700 block of Conti Street at about 12:23 p.m.

In both cases, police say the female victim described the assailant as being a male, wearing dark clothing and riding a bicycle.

Through investigation, detectives identified Davis, as the alleged perpetrator of these assaults. He is being sought by police on charges of attempted first-degree rape and simple assault in one of the incidents.

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Davis is asked to contact NOPD Sex Crimes at (504) 658-5523 or Crimestoppers anonymously at (504) 822-1111.
