Death of Northshore woman 'suspicious,' sheriff says

Deputies found a 45-year-old woman lying unresponsive and covered in blood.

PONCHATOULA, La. — The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a medical emergency involving a woman at a Meadow Wood Drive residence on Tuesday night. 

Shortly after 9 p.m., deputies arrived at the Bedico-area home and found the 45-year-old woman in her bedroom lying unresponsive while covered in blood between the bed and a dresser.

According to Sheriff Daniel Edwards, extensive attempts to revive Ponchatoula native Lisa Hernandez were unsuccessful.

While the cause of death has yet to be determined, the sheriff's office is calling it "suspicious" and the incident is being investigated as a homicide pending an autopsy.
