St. Tammany deputy fired after arrest for domestic violence, sheriff says

According to the STPSO, an investigation began into the now-former deputy in the criminal patrol division on March 20.

COVINGTON, La. — The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office arrested criminal patrol division deputy Brandon Espiritu on Friday on a warrant for Domestic Abuse Battery with Strangulation.

The 27-year-old Espiritu was terminated following the arrest and then booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center.

According to the STPSO, an investigation began on March 20.

Espiritu started his employment with the sheriff's office in June 2021.

“It is a very sad day when you have to arrest one of your own employees,” Sheriff Randy Smith said, “but no one is above the law.”
