St. Bernard Highway reopens following fire in Chalmette

A structure fire forced St. Bernard Parish firefighters to temporarily close a portion of Louisiana Highway 46 on Tuesday.

CHALMETTE, La. — St. Bernard Parish firefighters battled a structure fire and had to close a busy highway as a result.

The St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office said East St. Bernard Highway at Palmisano Boulevard in Chalmette has reopened to traffic after temporarily closing following due to the fire.

Deputies and St. Bernard firefighters are currently on the scene, so drivers are urged to proceed with caution.
