One dead after multi-car crash on LA Hwy 659

State police said the driver of the Chevrolet suffered minor injuries, while the driver of the RAM was uninjured.

HOUMA, La. — One person is dead after three vehicles crashed on LA Hwy 659 Tuesday, according to Louisiana State Police Troop C.

The crash happened around 8 p.m. near Lafayette Woods Boulevard.

State police said the driver of a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am crossed the centerline and side-swiped another driver riding in a 2022 RAM 3500, before hitting a driver head-on in a 2023 Chevrolet Suburban.

Troop C said the driver of the Pontiac was not wearing a seatbelt, suffered fatal injuries, and died on the scene.

Both drivers of the Chevrolet and RAM had on their seatbelts. State police said the driver of the Chevrolet suffered minor injuries, while the driver of the RAM was uninjured.

The identity of the Pontiac driver is unknown.
