Kenner Walmart evacuated after an electric issue sounded like gunfire

Police say they are currently searching the store for victims or armed suspects.

KENNER, La. — The Kenner Police Department says they responded to a call about a possible shooter at Walmart, but it was an electrical issue.

Police were called to the store at 300 West Esplanade Kenner around noon. When they arrived, they found out that it was "possibly electrical arcing coming from back of the store that sounded like gunfire."

The store was evacuated, and police searched for a shooter for an hour. No shooter was found.

There were no reports of injuries or gunfire, according to Kenner PD.
