Man dies in Metairie house fire Wednesday morning

The victim was found unresponsive in a bedroom of the home.

METAIRIE, La. — A Metairie man was killed in an early morning house fire Wednesday, according to the Jefferson Parish Fire Department.

The fire, in the 3400 block of Lausat Street, began before 6:30 a.m.

Both members of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office and the Jefferson Parish Fire Department responded to the scene. A man was found unresponsive in a bedroom in the home and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Another man, who was in the home when the fire started, was found outside. He was taken to the hospital with what the fire department described as non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire, and no further information had been provided by midday Wednesday.
