TERREBONNE PARISH, La. — Authorities are investigating a shooting that left one man dead Wednesday in the Coteau community of Terrebonne Parish.

Deputies responded to a call from someone just before 3:30 p.m. who said he had shot a man in the 1100 Block of Coteau Road, near Prospect Boulevard, the Terrebonne Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

When deputies arrived, they found the body of Jeramie Coose, 27, of Houma, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Detectives were still conducting interviews Wednesday evening, and the name of the person who made the original call had not been released.

It was the second homicide in as many days in Terrebonne Parish, authorities say.

Leah Marie Carlos, 40, was found shot and killed Monday in the home where she lived in the 200 block of North Main Project Road in Schriever, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Col. Terry Daigre, chief criminal deputy, said the Sheriff’s Office received a call shortly before 5:50 p.m. advising that workmen had discovered the body.

The Sheriff’s Office asks that anyone with information regarding the incidents call (985) 876-2500 or Crimestoppers Bayou Region at (800) 743-7433. Calls can be made anonymously and anyone with information leading to an arrest could be eligible for a cash reward up to $1,000.
