Friday school closure announced due to threat on social media

FirstLine Schools announced the closure of Langston Hughes Academy for Friday after a message was posted on social media threatening harm to the school community.

FirstLine Schools announced the closure of Langston Hughes Academy for Friday (Nov. 3) after a message was posted on social media threatening harm to the school community.

According to FirstLine CEO Sabrina Peace, a suspended student published the threat.

“We take all threats seriously and, out of an abundance of caution, we are canceling school at Langston Hughes tomorrow," Pence state. "The threat has been reported to NOPD. School will resume on Monday, Nov. 6 with increased security on hand to make sure students and staff are safe at all times – during the school day, during afterschool programming, and as students are welcomed and dismissed.”
