Man sentenced to 40 years in prison after fatally stabbing former girlfriend's uncle

The incident occurred on July 30, 2017 when Thibodeaux pulled a knife out while arguing with his girlfriend, with whom he has two children with.

A Pearl River man was sentenced to 40 years in prison for the fatal stabbing of a man in Slidell.

According to the District Attorney Warren Montgomery's office, 26-year-old Joseph Adam Thibodeaux pleaded guilty Wednesday to manslaughter and domestic violence aggravated assault for stabbing his former girlfriend’s uncle to death.

The incident occurred on July 30, 2017 when Thibodeaux pulled a knife out while arguing with his girlfriend, with whom he has two children with. He threatened her, and her uncle, Douglas Evans, tried to intervene, when Thibodeaux stabbed him.

He was sentenced to 40 years on the manslaughter charge and 5 years on the domestic violence aggravated assault charge, with both sentences to run concurrently.
