The couple decided to adopt Lentil from Tobie's Small Dog Rescue after a foster trial. Lentil is described as a xoloitzcuintle breed.

Jaouad Batiste said while they were in Los Angeles for the Oscars for Jon's nomination and performance, she started scrolling on Instagram and saw that Lentil needed to be adopted.

"I thought Jon might threaten divorce, but he didn’t—in fact, he said, 'Go for it'," she said in an Instagram post.

Instead of preparing for the Oscars, Jaouad Batiste said she drove an hour to pick Lentil up from the rescue.

The couple shared photos, one of Lentil enjoying pancakes with Jon, "her head is half the size of my palm, and her whole body smaller than Jon’s pancake," Jaouad Batiste said in a post.
