Memorial Day Weekend events

There are a number of events taking place around the New Orleans Metro Area to mark the holiday and fun activities to celebrate with the family.

Memorial Day is a day when people take time out to remember America's fallen heroes. There are a number of events taking place around the New Orleans Metro Area to mark the holiday and fun activities to celebrate with the family.

Museums & Ceremonies

National World War II Museum

Open daily from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

The museum is also honoring military service members on MONDAY, MAY 27 with a Memorial Day Commemoration.

The free event will feature a performance by the Victory Belles and the American Legion Post 377 band. The ceremony starts at 11 a.m. and ends at noon.

Jefferson Parish Memorial Day Ceremony

FRIDAY MAY 24

The ceremony will happen inside of Lakeside Mall under the Veterans Skylight.

The event starts at 10 a.m. and will also be streamed live on Facebook at JeffersonParishGov.

Festivals/Concerts

Doug E. Fresh & DJ Kool performing live at the Mahalia Jackson Theater

FRIDAY MAY 24

A huge concert with Doug E. Fresh, DJ Kool and a handful of Nola rap artists are kicking off Memorial Day weekend with a concert at the Mahalia Jackson Theater.

Also performing will be Partners N Crime, Choppa Style, Hot Boy Ronald and Assata Renay, with sounds by DJ Swag Ready. The night will be emceed by Rude Jude.

Funky 544 & Chicken on the Bone Memorial Day Weekend Bash

FRIDAY MAY 24 - SUNDAY MAY 26

Enjoy music and live music with Chicken on the Bone band at 544 Bourbon Street for the weekend to celebrate, sing and dance.

The event is free and starts at 2 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Treme 7th Ward "Under the Bridge" Festival 2024

SATURDAY MAY 25 - SUNDAY MAY 26

Grab the family and get ready for music, food and art at the Treme 7th Ward Festival. Along St. Ann and St. Philip there will be a handful of musical performances featuring the Treme Brass Brand, Kermit Ruffins, Earth Angels, Corey Henry and more.

The Original Treme Baby Dolls, Original Big Seven Social Aid & Pleasure Club and the Black Masking Indians will make a special appearance.

Big Freedia performing Live at Toulouse Theatre

SUNDAY MAY 26

The Queen Diva Big Freedia will be live at the Toulouse Theatre during Memorial Weekend. The special event will also feature performances by Sweet Crude, SaxKixAve and Jelly Joseph.

2024 Greek Festival

FRIDAY MAY 24 - SUNDAY MAY 26

The 49th annual Greek Festival kicks off Memorial Day weekend. The 3-day festival has multiple events with a Greek Festival Run/Walk Race, hellenic dancers and Cathedral tours.
