FOLSOM, La. — Folsom in St. Tammany Parish issued a boil water advisory on Monday afternoon, after an apparent break in the water main, village water officials said.
"Because of this situation, the water produced by the water supply could be of questionable microbiological quality," Village of Folsom officials said just before 2 p.m.. "Therefore, as a precaution, the water system is issuing a boil advisory effective immediately for the entire village.
The release from Folsom also gave instructions for how to boil water:
"Boil water for one full minute in a clean container. The one minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil. (The flat taste can be eliminated by shaking the water in a clean bottle, pouring ti from one clean container to another or by adding a small pinch of salt to each quart of water that is boiled."
The village said they would wait until the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals alerts the village's water department, before rescinding the order.
