HAMMOND, La. – A man who was expecting a date with a female friend to include a day at a local casino was instead apparently set up for a robbery and beating by the woman and a couple of associates.

The incident occurred on November 28 on Deluxe Lake Drive in Hammond.

According to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, the 65-year-old victim was at home waiting for a female friend he knew only as “Chris.” The two had planned an afternoon at a nearby casino.

The sheriff’s office said that when Chris arrived three hours late, she asked to relax for a few moments before they headed out. A short time later, two men wearing camouflage and face masks and carrying guns entered the residence and demanded money and to know the location of a safe.

The man was beaten by the two suspects who struck him repeatedly with their weapons, before holding the man down and taking all of the possessions from his pockets. They also ransacked and burglarized other items from the home before leaving and threatening the man to not return to the home until the next evening.

Coincidentally, “Chris” left a short time later, leaving the victim by himself to tend to his wounds.

The next day officers responded to a possible burglary at the Friendly Inn in Hammond as one of the men – Jonathon Michael Easley of Robert, was leaving a room that was also occupied by 22-year-old Brandon Michael Buras of Folsom and 41-year-old Christina Deangelo of Ponchatoula.

An eventual search of Buras’ room led detectives to illegal narcotics, drug paraphernalia, stolen property, credit cards, ID cars and checks from a local bank in the name of the 65-year-old victim from the evening before.
