Fatal collision claims life of Hammond man, state police say

BAPTIST, La. — A two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 190 at South Baptist Road in Tangipahoa Parish claimed the life of 45-year-old Eric Cook of Hammond on Monday night.

According to Louisiana State Police, Cook's 2020 Toyota Corolla was struck by a 2018 Honda CR-V driven by 24-year-old Victoria Reid of Covington while she was passing through the intersection under a red traffic light.

Despite being properly restrained, Cook sustained severe injuries and later died at the hospital.

Reid sustained minor injuries and transported to a hospital for medical treatment.

This crash remains under investigation.
