Salvation Army mobilizing to assist Slidell tornado victims

Water, snacks, coffee, and energy drinks will be distributed and emotional support provided.

SLIDELL, La. — The Salvation Army of Greater New Orleans is organizing support efforts to assist people impacted by a tornado that hit Slidell during strong storms on Wednesday.

Water, snacks, coffee, and energy drinks will be distributed from the Army’s FedEx and Community Coffee emergency feeding units.

According to the Salvation Army, officials will be available to provide spiritual and emotional support to first responders and those residents impacted by the severe weather event.

The Salvation Army plans to be set up by early evening.

An exact location will be determined upon arriving in Slidell, and an update will be sent as soon as possible with that location.

The Salvation Army Greater New Orleans Command serves the parishes of Orleans, Jefferson, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. John the Baptist and St. Tammany.
