ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. — The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office says they arrested a school employee for a simple battery incident involving a student.
School employees at a Slidell-area elementary school called the sheriff’s office Friday, January 19, after they saw 44-year-old Margarita Shevchenko “pop” a 7-year-old student on the mouth on Thursday, January 18.
Shevchenko is a paraprofessional who works with special needs students, according to STPSO. She was arrested on Monday and released on a summons for one count of simple battery.
