ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. — A Slidell man who won an abandoned storage unit in an auction found a human skull inside of it, according to the St. Tammany Parish Coroner's office.

The man found the skull on Saturday when he opened the storage unit. The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office contacted the coroner's office to identify the skull possibly.

Dr. Charles Preston says his office will work with the Louisiana State University FACES Laboratory and the Attorney General’s Office to determine the age and origin of the skull.

"At this point, it seems the skull may be quite old. And that a generalized age of the skull may be the best single result we can hope for under these circumstances," Public Information Officer for the office of the coroner in St. Tammany Parish Greg Beuerman said.
