Slidell PD motorcycle officer crashes into state police vehicle while escorting officials

Slidell PD says the officer has been released from the hospital and is currently at home recovering.

The Slidell Police Department says an on-duty motorcycle officer was injured in a crash Monday while escorting state and local officials who were viewing weather-related damage in the Slidell area.

According to Slidell PD, Officer Jason Walden, crashed into an unmarked Louisiana State Police vehicle during the escort around 1 p.m. The crash happened near the intersection of W. Howze Beach Road and Rio Street.

"The officer suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital. No other injuries occurred as a result of the crash," Slidell Police said. 

The Slidell Police Department said on Tuesday that Walden was released from the hospital and is currently at home recovering. 

The crash is under investigation.
