SLIDELL, La. — The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office is issuing a warning to citizens after more than five dozen counterfeit oxycodone pills that the office says likely contain fentanyl were seized in a traffic stop Friday night.

According to Sheriff Randy Smith, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driving erratically on Highway 21 in Bush.

The sheriff’s office said that the man, identified as 37-year-old David Stucker of Bogalusa, consented to a search of the truck where the suspected fentanyl and other drugs were found in a backpack.

Deputies said they found 66 blue pills which were disguised as oxycodone but suspected to be counterfeit pills containing fentanyl, 4 grams of suspected fentanyl powder, 2 grams of suspected methamphetamine and 40 grams of suspected marijuana.

Stucker was arrested and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center on the following charges:

L.R.S. 40:967A Possession of Schedule II w/ Intent to Distribute (Felony) – Fentanyl L.R.S. 40:967C Possession of Schedule II (Felony) – Methamphetamine L.R.S. 40:966 Possession of Schedule I (Misdemeanor) – Marijuana L.R.S. 32:79 Improper Lane Use (Misdemeanor)

“Fentanyl is a very dangerous drug and it is no secret that it is in our community,” Sheriff Randy Smith said. “When you purchase drugs off the street, you do not know truly what you are getting.”
