HAMMOND, La. A Tangipahoa Parish man was arrested after the person he stabbed died due to complications from the wound, authorities said.
Charles Huey Vallaire was arrested on one count of manslaughter and three outstanding warrants.
Sheriff's deputies were called to a cutting shortly before noon Saturday and, while en route, were flagged down on Airport Road by a man later identified as Vallaire, a Tangipahoa Sheriff's official said.
He told them Donald Ray Wilson needed assistance after he accidentally stabbed himself, the official said.
Wilson eventually was taken to North Oaks Hospital, where he later died.
While in questioning with the Sheriff's Criminal Investigations Division, Vallaire admitted the two had a physical altercation, leading to him stabbing Wilson in the upper left shoulder area.
