NEW ORLEANS – Officials are moving closer to seeking redevelopment of Charity Hospital, The New Orleans Advocate reports.
The LSU Real Estate and Facilities Foundation, the state along with the help of the Greater New Orleans Foundation, put out a request for qualifications from companies that could potentially develop the hospital. It has been closed ever since Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005.
Developers have until May 16 to respond to the request. Firms who are selected as finalists will be asked to submit a more detailed plan for the site.
