Good Samaritan comes to aid of St. Charles Parish shooting victim, suspect still at large

A good Samaritan immediately began lifesaving measures, and she ultimately transported the victim to an area hospital prior to the arrival of St. Charles deputies.

HAHNVILLE, La. — According to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office, a good Samaritan immediately jumped into action and began lifesaving measures to 21-year-old gunshot victim before taking him to the hospital for treatment on Saturday night.

Deputies responded to the 300 block of Smith Street in Hahnville, La., at around 10:10 p.m. after receiving a report of the shooting.

Upon arrival, deputies found multiple shell casings lying in the street and during the investigation discovered a vehicle and residence damaged by gunfire.

The Sheriff's Office said the victim was speaking with his girlfriend outside when he heard gunfire and was shot. The gunfire was believed to come from someone in an unknown vehicle that fled towards Highway 3160.

The victim sustained four non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
