Man dies in single-vehicle crash in St. Charles

The crash remains under investigation.

ST. CHARLES – One man died in a single-vehicle crash on US 90 west in St. Charles Parish on Saturday afternoon.

According to Louisiana State Police, the crash occurred around 2 p.m. at milepost 239.2 when 41-year-old Maurice Stewart was driving a Ford Explorer in the right lane of US 90 east. For unknown reasons, Stewart’s vehicle began to rotate counter clockwise.

It then crossed the median and came to rest in the left lane of the highway. The passenger in Stewart’s vehicle, 36-year-old Schwann Williams of Houma, was taken to University Medical Center in stable condition, Louisiana State Police say.

Speed in considered to be a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
