Former St Tammany coroner to hold open public meeting addressing new coroner concerns

The public is encouraged to attend the open meeting. Here is how to attend.

ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. — Dr. Charles Preston, outgoing St. Tammany Parish Coroner, will speak at an open meeting hosted by the St. Tammany Chapter of the Alliance for Good Government on Wednesday, April 3.

The open meeting will be held at Mandeville City Council Chambers 3101 E. Causeway Approach. Doors will open at 6 p.m., the open meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.

All members of the public are encouraged to attend the open meeting.

The purpose of the open meeting is to address concerns the public may have regarding the incoming coroner-elect.

Newly elected coroner Christopher Tape has faced ongoing criticism from some parish leaders about past accusations of alleged sexual misconduct with a minor. The charges more than a decade ago were dismissed by a judge but the shadow of those charges has haunted Tape through his first days in office as the St Tammany Parish coroner.

Tape was elected by default since no opponent was running against him.
