Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's daughter accused of using "N" word online

At the bottom of the video about a drunk man apparently walking around a supermarket, Lindsey Larpenter apparently writes, "N**** was just trying to go home and eat a snack."

HOUMA- A post sent to Eyewitness News from a viewer is causing concern in Houma.

At the bottom of the video about a drunk man apparently walking around a supermarket, Lindsey Larpenter apparently writes, "N**** was just trying to go home and eat a snack."

Lindsey Larpenter is also the daughter of Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Jerry Larpenter. She also allegedly has a job in the sheriff's department.

"Basically she's referring to herself as the N word in her post. However, no one should use that word," Jerome Boykin, Sr. President of the NAACP's Terrebonne Parish Branch said.

Boykin says he was notified about the post by ten people.

"I had an opportunity to speak with Sheriff Larpenter on Monday and the Sheriff told me it won't be tolerated by any of his employees," Boykin Sr. said.

This is not Lindsey Larpenter's first encounter with controversy. According to WWL-TV's partners at the Houma Courier, she was charged with a DWI last January.

Eyewitness News reached out to Sheriff Larpenter moments after the newsroom received the tip about the alleged Facebook comments, but he said he never heard of them and refused to comment to the media. Eyewitness News also traveled to the Sheriff's Office Wednesday afternoon, but staff members told said he was not in.

"I mean, she's in public relations, through one form or another."

A Houma resident who wished to remain anonymous said he would also like to see Larpenter reprimanded, even if the alleged Facebook was a joke, it's not funny.

"It doesn't matter," he said. "With the way society is right now. And the way people are getting on in this country we need to be more sensitive to comments that are made."

A post in digital media that some say should have real life consequences.
