5 things you need to know Wednesday

Obama to meet with activists, law enforcement

President Obama will host a meeting at the White House on Wednesday with law enforcement officials, activists and civil rights leaders to discuss how to mend the broken relationships between communities and police. Tensions between people of color and law enforcement are as palpable as ever in the wake of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile's officer-involved shooting deaths and the subsequent deadly attacks on Dallas officers. The meeting comes a day after Obama visited Dallas and spoke at an interfaith memorial service, hailing the city police officers as heroes.

Britain says goodbye to Cameron

David Cameron will resign as Britain’s prime minister Wednesday as Home Secretary Theresa May takes the post. Cameron had announced he would step down by October after Britain voted to leave the European Union, but that process was expedited Monday when May's sole Conservative Party opponent, Andrea Leadsom, suddenly pulled out of the leadership race. May will be the second woman to lead the U.K. The first was Margaret Thatcher. “Brexit means Brexit, and we’re going to make a success of it,” May said Monday, though she supported staying in the EU.

Most expensive luxury ship ever built to set sail

Designed to carry 750 passengers, Explorer has one of the highest ratios of space to passengers in the history of cruising. The ship initially will work the Mediterranean, offering eight- to 14-night cruises starting at $6,799 per person. It will reposition to the Caribbean for the winter.

The Arthur Ashe Courage Award will go to the family of Zaevion Dobson, a 15-year-old high school football player who was killed after shielding friends from gunfire. Former WWE heavyweight champion John Cena will host the show.

'Mr. Robot' returns in grittier Season 2

The smashing psycho-thriller Mr. Robot returns to USA on Wednesday (10 p.m. ET) hoping to answer fans' many questions in Season 2. The series, which averaged 1.4 million viewers in its first season and won Golden Globes for best drama and supporting actor (Christian Slater), picks up after vigilante hacker Elliot Alderson (Rami Malek) sent the global economy into chaos by orchestrating a high-scale hack of a major corporation that erased people's debts. For its second season, directed entirely by show creator Sam Esmail, USA bumped up its episode order from 10 to 12 and added an after-show featuring clips and interviews with cast members.
