'Democratic Party on life support' – Clancy DuBos after GOP sweep in Louisiana

A month after electing Jeff Landry new Louisiana Governor and re-electing Billy Nungesser Lt. Governor, the GOP recorded a clean sweep in three other state seats.

BATON ROUGE, La. — A month after electing Jeff Landry new Louisiana Governor and re-electing Billy Nungesser Lt. Governor, the GOP recorded a clean sweep in three other statewide seats Saturday.

Liz Baker Murrill soundly defeated Democrat Lindsey Cheek to succeed Landry as State Attorney General, followed by Nancy Landry following suit by winning the Secretary of State seat over Gwen Collins-Greenup, as well as Dr. John Fleming being elected new State Treasurer over Dustin Granger in similar fashion.

"Republicans now control all seven of the statewide offices in the state of Louisiana," WWL Louisiana political analyst Clancy DuBos explained. "This is not a surprise. This has been coming for decades. It's a culmination of highly organized efforts by the Republican Party, and quite frankly, the Democratic Party in Louisiana is pretty much on life support."

"Nobody can say it's dead, but it is definitely on life support," DuBos continued. "In the next few months, a lot of people expect to see a shake-up in the leadership of the Democratic Party in Louisiana."
