JEFFERSON PARISH, La. — A judicial district court seat runoff in Jefferson Parish has been scheduled among a series of races on the ballot for Saturday's municipal election in Louisiana.

Two Republican attorneys --  Jacqueline "Jackie" Maloney and Lindsey Valenti -- will appear on the ballot for most of Jefferson Parish's Eastbank, excluding south Kenner. Valenti and Maloney have been competing for the 24th judicial district.

Maloney runs a private practice law firm, starting in 2012. Before that, Maloney spent 14 years as an assistant district attorney in New Orleans and Jefferson Parish.

Valenti served as the chief legal counsel for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, starting in 2016 and ending her tenure in December.

On Saturday, polls have been scheduled to open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Maloney and Valenti previously faced off in the Louisiana March primary election, where a third candidate, Jerry Smith, was eliminated after finishing in third.

According to NOLA.com, Maloney and Smith had teamed up on the campaign trail against Valenti.

In that primary, Valenti received 39% of the vote and Maloney got 37%. Since neither candidate reached the 50% threshold in April, the race advanced to a runoff set to take place on Saturday.

Over 23,000 people voted in the primary.

The judicial race in Jefferson Parish is part of a slew of municipal races across Louisiana that include tax proposals, city council seats, and councilmember salaries. Races in St. Tammany, St. Bernard, Lafourche, St. James, St. John, Terrebonne, Tangipahoa and Washington.

Orleans Parish does not have any elections scheduled for Saturday.
