After nine years at WWL-TV, reporter Jill Hezeau announced Friday she is leaving her job to focus full-time on raising her family, and her two young daughters, who joined her on the Eyewitness Morning News set to say goodbye.
'It has been a dream working with you guys,' she told anchors Sally-Ann Roberts and Eric Paulsen.'I grew up watching you two and I have a tremendous amount of respect for you.I love you guys and will always cherish working with you.'
Sitting with her on the set were her daughters Audrey, born in March, and Cecilia, who will celebrate a birthday on Saturday and charmed the audience by talking almost non-stop during her TV appearance.
Jill said that she is looking forward to the experience of being a full-time mom, and also working with the small jewelry company that she and her sister have run for the past few years.
Her husband, former sports anchor/reporter Scott Cody, recently moved behind the cameras here at Channel 4, becoming a sales account executive.
Jill's career at WWL-TV included many years as reporter for the Eyewitness Morning News, and began as traffic reporter for the newscast.As a reporter, she was also part of the team that covered Hurricane Katrina, earning the station a Peabody, Edward R. Murrow and duPont-Columbia Award.
Her time on the morning news also included lighter moments, with Festival Friday segments providing healthy competition with meteorologist Laura Buchtel, who joined her on the live remote broadcasts.Laura presented Jill with a scrapbook of photos from those Festival Friday segments.
