NEW ORLEANS -- Former LSU Quarterback Brandon Harris is leaving the SEC.

According to a post on Harris' Facebook page, the former LSU starter will join the University of North Carolina Tarheels next season.

"Obviously, it has been an important time for me, looking for a great situation and another opportunity to grow as a young man and as a student as well as a football player. The opportunity to accomplish that is very important to me. After my offical visit this weekend to the University of North Carolina, I'm going to get that opportunity," Harris said. "With that being said, I'm fully committed to UNC this upcoming year and I look forward to the opportunity to play for coach Fedora and UNC."

The Louisiana native announced in February that he would graduate over the summer and transfer from LSU for his last year of eligibility.

Harris started 15 games for LSU over three seasons. He was replaced by Danny Etling in the second game of LSU's 2016 season and never got on the field for the Tigers again.
