MARRERO, La. — A pedestrian was fatally struck by a car while crossing the street in Marrero Thursday night, Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office officials said.

The crash happened around 9:20 p.m. near the intersection of Ames Boulevard and Louis I Avenue in Marrero. The intersection is near Harry S. Truman Middle School.

A car traveling southbound on Ames Boulevard struck the pedestrian while they were crossing the road.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. They have not been identified pending notification of their next of kin.
