NOFD battled a 2-alarm house fire in Treme

The NOFD says everyone inside got out safely, however, one of the residents’ three small dogs did not make it out of the fire alive.

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Fire Department was quick on the scene of a house fire in Treme.

The fire broke out Thursday morning at a home in the 2600 block of Ursulines near N. Broad Street.

The NOFD says everyone inside got out safely, however, one of the residents’ three small dogs did not make it out of the fire alive. Firefighters tried to revive the pets but were unsuccessful.

WWL Louisiana’s Paul Murphy was traveling to work Thursday morning when he says he spotted the smoke billowing from the home.

Video shot from the scene shows the flames shooting out of the side of the house.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
