NEW ORLEANS — Over the course of its 300-year history, New Orleans’ cuisine has been one of its greatest gifts to the world. Now, as we celebrate the city’s 300th birthday and WWL-TV’s 60th anniversary, our gift to you is a free e-cookbook, with 'Family Favorite' recipes.
This cookbook series celebrates New Orleans’ family favorites recipes, to coincide with the city’s tricentennial. What better way to commemorate 300 years of life in the city we love than by celebrating the thing that truly unites us all: food.
Korean Beef
Ingredients
- 1 lb. lean ground beef
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tsp. sesame oil
- 1/4 tsp. ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
- 1/4 tsp. Creole seasoning
- 3 green onions, thinly sliced
Directions
- In a large skillet, cook beef and garlic over medium heat 6-8 minutes or until beef is no longer pink, breaking up beef into crumbles. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, mix brown sugar, soy sauce, oil and seasonings.
- Stir sauce into beef and heat thoroughly. Sprinkle with green onions.
Chef Kevin's Notes:
- Freezing option: Allow meat to cool, portion out meat and freeze meat mixture in freezer containers. When you are ready to use, place frozen container in the refrigerator overnight. Heat thoroughly in a saucepan, stirring occasionally.
- The beef can be served a number of ways. Such as over rice, on top of a salad, in lettuce cups, on top of a baked potato and on buns as a slider. You choose the way that you and your family likes the best.
