NEW ORLEANS — Police went into Mother's Day weekend investigating multiple shootings, including two that happened just an hour apart and down the road Thursday night in New Orleans East.

Initial NOPD reports show that officers responded to an attack in the 5200 block of Basinview Drive in the West Lake Forest area of New Orleans East late Thursday night.

When police arrived to the street near the I-10 underpass around 10:50 p.m., they found a 28-year-old man shot in the leg and in need of medical emergency personnel.

He was rushed in an ambulance to the hospital for treatment, where he told officers he had been getting out of the car when someone drove by and shot him.

About an hour later, police responded to another shooting about a mile away in West Lake Forest, where they found another 28-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

In that case, police found the victim in the 6800 block of Parc Brittany Boulevard. He was rushed to the hospital via ambulance.

Police are investigating both attacks as aggravated batteries by shooting. Neither man's condition was available.

On Friday night, a man was reportedly shot several times in the 3400 block of Hamilton Street in Hollygrove, a block from the Mt. Rock Baptist Church.

After being hit, he was able to get to the hospital in a private vehicle, where staff took him in for treatment and notified police around 7:15 p.m.
