Police chase ends with suspect crashing into off-duty officer

The chase ended at the intersection of MacArthur Boulevard and Kabel Drive when the vehicle hit a silver SUV.

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department says they are investigating a pursuit that ended in a crash in Algiers.

Officers attempted to stop a red two-door Audi that matched the description of a vehicle wanted in 15-year-old Raynard Williams Jr. homicide investigation, according to NOPD. Officers say the driver of the vehicle did not stop and fled the scene. When the driver fled, officers requested and received approval to pursue the vehicle.

The chase ended at the intersection of MacArthur Boulevard and Kabel Drive when the vehicle hit a silver SUV.

Police say the SUV was occupied by an off-duty police officer and two juvenile children. The officer was not involved in the pursuit. 

The off-duty officer, the children, and the driver of the suspect vehicle were taken to the hospital.
