JPSO: Teen says he was shot while breaking into cars in Harvey

Deputies found the shot teen in front of the location with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The sheriff’s office said the wound was not life threatening.

HARVEY, La. — A teen boy was shot while in the process of breaking into vehicles in Harvey early Friday morning, Sheriff Joe Lopinto reports.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies went to the 1100 block of Aberdeen around 2:30 a.m. on a call that said someone had been shot outside of a residence.

Deputies found the shot teen in front of the location with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The sheriff’s office said the wound was not life-threatening.

Lopinto said that deputies weren’t able to get any information from the teen at the scene, but, while being taken to the hospital, he said the teen told EMS that he was shot while breaking into vehicles.

The sheriff’s office is attempting to locate any vehicles that were burglarized.
