NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department is searching for a man who escaped from a police unit in the station parking lot.

Police have identified the man as 20-year-old Jawan Myles.

Investigators arrested Myles and three juveniles while executing a search warrant at a home in the 5400 block of North Claiborne Avenue.

Myles told officers that he was a juvenile during the arrest, but investigators figured out that Myles was an adult.

The four suspects were detained and taken to the Fifth District station for processing.

While handcuffed, Myles and one of the juveniles were able to escape the scene on foot, according to the NOPD. The juvenile was re-captured, but Myles was not.

Police are still searching for Myles. They have set up a search perimeter near North Claiborne Avenue and Pauline Street. Myles was being booked on gun and drug charges.

No other information is currently available.
