NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department released additional details Saturday morning about a shooting in New Orleans East that left a man dead.
In a note to media, the NOPD said they received a call about a shooting in the 4200 block of America Street around 6 a.m. Saturday.
When they arrived, officers found a man lying in the street with an apparent gunshot wound to the head, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Police said they are still working to determine who is responsible for the killing and what motive led to the shooting.
The identity of the man who was killed has not been released Saturday morning pending the completion of an autopsy and notification of his next of kin.
