NOPD investigates a Julia Street homicide

This is the second homicide in the Warehouse District to happen in less than a week.

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a homicide that happened Tuesday in the 300 block of Julia Street.

Initial NOPD reports say a man sustained at least one gunshot wound to his body. EMS transported the victim to a local hospital where he later died.

"Around 8:40 a.m., Eighth District officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 300 block of Julia Street," says an NOPD report. "Upon their arrival, the officers discovered the 29-year-old male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to a local hospital, where he later expired."

This is the second homicide in the Warehouse District to happen in less than a week.

The first homicide happened on the Friday before Christmas where a stray bullet killed Brandon "Boogie B" Montrell. That investigation is ongoing.
