Police say the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

NEW ORLEANS — Two men were killed and three other people are in critical condition following a shooting on the I-10 Service Road near Bundy that caused a car to smash through a fence, enter I-10 and crash into another vehicle Monday evening.

The crash occurred in the westbound lanes between Read and Crowder Blvd. and closed that section of I-10 for hours.

Police said two men traveling in a black Dodge vehicle suffered fatal gunshot wounds. Their vehicle was traveling on the service road near Bundy when the shooting occurred. As a result of the shooting, the Dodge veered through a fence and onto the interstate where it crashed into a white Nissan vehicle.

Inside of the Nissan, officers said they found a woman had also suffered a gunshot wound and a 35-year-old man and 38-year-old woman who were critically injured in the crash.

All three of those people were taken to the hospital by emergency vehicles.
