Girl stabbed multiple times during school fight at Hammond High, sheriff says

Sheriff Daniel Edwards said the juvenile assailant was found possessing a small foldable "key-knife."

HAMMOND, La. — A girl is in custody on Monday after she allegedly stabbed another female student multiple times during a fight in the bathroom of Hammond High School earlier in the day.

According to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office, the fight occurred shortly before 10:30 a.m.

The victim was hospitalized with at least three stab wounds to her upper extremities.

The injuries are said to be non-life-threatening wounds and she is listed in stable condition.

After the altercation, Sheriff Daniel Edwards said the juvenile assailant was found possessing a small foldable "key-knife."

The offending student was booked into Florida Parish Juvenile Detention Center and will be charged with Aggravated Second Degree Battery.

Since both girls are under 18, the sheriff's office said identities and ages will not be released.

This is an ongoing investigation being conducted by TPSO and School Resource Officers.
