There was heavy police activity off N. Causeway Boulevard as officers responded to the scene.

METAIRIE, La. — A large police presence shut down N. Causeway Boulevard near W. Esplanade Avenue in Metairie Thursday morning after an police chase that reportedly started in the French Quarter and an officer-involved shooting.

The scene near Lake Pontchartrain was still active at 9 a.m.

WWL-TV reporters at the scene spoke with the owner of New Orleans Fish House, who said his truck was stolen in the French Quarter this morning. A police pursuit ensued, and Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office officials confirmed that New Orleans police had chased the alleged thief and stopped her about a block off N. Causeway Boulevard in Metairie, at Ridgelake Drive.

Multiple law enforcement units, including some from the Jefferson Parish Levee District, responded to the incident. There was a police-involved shooting with Levee District officers, but it was not immediately clear if the suspect or the police fired shots, or how many were fired.

No injuries were reported.

Several blocks of W. Esplanade Avenue were sectioned off as police continued to investigate the scene. The west bound intersection of W. Esplanade and Causeway was closed.

Police officials say one woman was caught and is now in custody.

The owner of the truck said his son was also chasing the stolen vehicle. The chase ended when she crashed into the New Orleans Fish House Truck he was driving, he said.
