Two arrested for multiple burglaries, including police equipment theft

The suspects will be transferred to New Orleans and booked accordingly upon release from Baton Rouge Police.

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department arrested two suspects in connection with a string of burglaries on and around Airline Highway.

According to the NOPD, Benjamin Polasky, 61, and soon-to-be 43-year-old (Jan. 30) Mindy Bohlander are suspected of burglarizing four businesses between Jan. 6-14, including a robbery at American Police Equipment in the 9000 block of Airline where several items of police equipment were stolen.

Soon after the police supply store burglary, the NOPD halted traffic stops by unmarked cars and plainclothes officers.

Using video footage and crime scene evidence distributed to other state law enforcement agencies, Baton Rouge Police located the two suspects in possession of items matching the property taken in the burglaries.

Further investigation placed the suspects at the scenes of the A.P.E. burglary and another nearby incident.

The suspects will be transferred to New Orleans and booked on four counts of simple burglary each upon release from Baton Rouge Police.

The NOPD is asking anyone with additional information regarding these incidents or suspects should call the NOPD Third District at 504-658-6030 or Crimestoppers anonymously at 504-822-1111.
