Carnival says security video shows missing Houma man jumped overboard

Carnival has issued an update stating that security video reviewed aboard the Carnival Glory suggests that 28-year-old Houma native Tyler Barnett jumped overboard.

NEW ORLEANS — UPDATE: On Thursday, Nov. 16, the U.S. Coast Guard announced that the search for the missing man had been suspended indefinitely.

Less than two days after a Louisiana man was reported missing from a New Orleans-based cruise ship, Carnival has issued an update stating that security video reviewed aboard the Carnival Glory suggests that 28-year-old Houma native Tyler Barnett purposely jumped overboard just after midnight on Monday morning.

According to Carnival, Barnett appeared to jump from Deck 4 at approximately 1:40 a.m. after he can be seen climbing on a lifeboat boat just moments before.

The U.S. Coast Guard, which was searching a 200-mile area, has been notified.

Carnival said it is providing assistance to Barnett's family who was traveling with him and still on board.

Carnival Glory will arrive to Montego Bay, Jamaica on Wednesday as planned.
