Many schools and school systems in the area will have early dismissal or altered schedules due to severe weather expected on Monday. Here's a list of early dismissals.
Early Release
Orleans Parish Public Schools
Hynes-Parkview:
- Kindergarten-8th grades will dismiss at 11:30am
Hynes-Lakeview:
- PreK will dismiss at 11am
- Kindergarten will dismiss at 11:15am
- Grades 1st-8th will dismiss at 11:30am
Hynes-UNO:
- Kindergarten will dismiss at 11:15am
- Grades 1st-8th will dismiss at 11:30am
Willow School:
- All campuses of the Willow School in grades K-12 will have early dismissal tomorrow at 11:30am, Monday, January 8 due to the expected severe weather. All after-school activities are canceled.
Audubon Schools:
- Audubon's Live Oak Campus will dismiss at 12:30 p.m.
- Audubon School's Broadway and Gentilly campuses will dismiss at 1 p.m.
Robert Russa Moton Charter School:
- The school will have early dismissal at 11:30 a.m.
InspireNOLA Schools:
- InspireNOLA high schools (Edna Karr, McDonogh 35, and Eleanor McMain) will dismiss at 11:30 a.m. and InspireNOLA elementary schools (Alice M. Harte, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Andrew H. Wilson, and Pierre A. Capdau S.T.E.A.M.) will dismiss at 1 p.m.
All after-school activities are canceled.
NOCCA:
- All NOCCA instruction ends at 11:25 AM with office closure at 1 PM.
International High School of New Orleans:
- The school will close at noon, and all after-school activities will be canceled.
Benjamin Franklin High School:
- Benjamin Franklin High School will have an early dismissal tomorrow at 11:40 a.m. All after-school activities are canceled.
Jefferson Parish Public Schools
The first time is the school’s start time and the the second time is the school’s end time for a half-day schedule.
- 7:20 a.m. - 10:45 a.m.
- 7:30 a.m. - 10:55 a.m.
- 7:45 a.m.- 11:10 a.m.
- 8:00 a.m.- 11:25 a.m.
- 8:15 a.m.- 11:55 a.m.
All after-school activities and events, including after-care, will also be canceled tomorrow.
Discovery Schools:
- Kenner Discovery and Dr. John Ochsner Discovery will be dismissed at 1:30 p.m. All after-school activities and aftercare programs are canceled.
Dominican:
- School will dismiss at noon.
Jefferson RISE Charter School:
- The school will be closed on Monday.
Lafourche Parish Public Schools
- High Schools will release at 11:15 a.m.
- Middle Schools will release at 11:45 a.m. including Bayou Boeuf Elementary and Galliano Elementary.
- Elementary Schools will release at 12:30 p.m.
- All offices of the LPSB will close at 1:00 p.m.
All after-school activities have been canceled for tomorrow.
Plaquemines Parish
- Belle Chasse Academy has 11:30 AM dismissal on 1-8-2024. Parents should check their ParentSquare, BCA Website, and Official BCA Facebook page for details and updates.
- Lower Plaquemines Parish out at 11:00 a.m. and upper Plaquemines schools at 11:30 a.m.
St. Bernard Parish
- St. Bernard Christian Academy (Meraux) will have a 2:00 p.m. dismissal. All after-school activities are canceled.
- Chalmette High School, Rowley Alternative, and Smith Elementary will begin dismissal at noon, followed by their middle schools and their remaining elementary schools. There will be no after-school activities tomorrow.
St. Charles Parish Public Schools
- 11:00 - Tier 1 (DHS and HHS)
- 11:40 - Tier 2 (Cammon, Hurst, JB Martin, RK Smith, Lakewood, Schoeffner)
- 12:30 - Tier 3 (Allemands, Luling, Mimosa Park, New Sarpy, Norco, St. Rose, RJ Vial, Head Start, School Board Office)
Please note that all after-school activities including childcare are canceled for January 8, 2024.
St. John Early
- The school will have a 3-hour early release schedule. All after-school activities are canceled and buildings will close at noon.
St. Tammany Parish Public Schools
- Dismissal will be three hours early. Buses will pick up students at that dismissal time.
- All afterschool activities, including aftercare, sports, clubs, and events have been canceled.
Terrebonne Parish School District
- The school has an early dismissal schedule. All after-school activities are canceled and office buildings close at noon.
Catholic School Dismissals
- St. Andrew the Apostle School in Orleans Parish/Algiers will close tomorrow at 12:00 PM due to anticipated inclement weather.
- St. Cletus Catholic School in Gretna/Jefferson Parish will close tomorrow at 1:00 PM due to anticipated inclement weather.
- Holy Name of Jesus School in Uptown/Orleans Parish will close tomorrow at 12:00 PM due to anticipated inclement weather.
- Other Archdiocese Catholic schools will be closing (mostly at 12:00 PM or 1:00 PM) per archdiocese orders. Families should check with their school(s) to see what time they will be closing tomorrow.
- Jesuit High School early dismissal at 12:15 pm.
- Ursuline Academy early dismissal at 12:15 pm.
Chalmette Schools
- Our Lady of Prompt Succor will dismiss at noon. Afterschool activities have been canceled and there will be no aftercare. Students must be picked up at noon tomorrow as the campus will be shut down at that time for the safety of all of our families.
Ascension Public Schools
- Middle Schools (grades 6-8): Dismissal at 11 a.m.
- Primary Schools (grades Pre-K – 5): Dismissal at 12 p.m.
- All Offices: Will close at 1 p.m.
- All after-school activities have been canceled.
East Baton Rouge Parish Public Schools
- Canceled all after-school activities.
Iberville Parish Schools
- IAPPS will release at 10:15 a.m.
- White Castle High School, MSA West High School, North Iberville Elementary and High Schools, MSA East, Plaquemine High School, and Crescent Elementary will be released at 10:30 a.m.
- Dorseyville Elementary, MSA West Elementary, Iberville Elementary, and East Iberville will release at 11:30 a.m.
- All after-school activities have been canceled.
- The Iberville Parish School Board meeting that was scheduled for Monday, Jan. 8 has been cancelled as well.
Livingston Parish Schools
- Will follow a half-day schedule. Individual dismissal times were not announced.
St James Parish Schools
- High Schools: Dismissal at 10:45 a.m.
- Elementary Schools: Dismissal at 11:30 a.m.
- All Offices: Will close at 1 p.m.
- All after-school activities have been canceled.
Washington Parish School System
Schools will have an early dismissal.
- ENON 11:30 am dismissal
- FJHS 11: am dismissal
- FPS 11:10 am dismissal
- FES 11:20 am dismissal
- FHS 11:30 am dismissal
- MHS 11:30 am dismissal
