Spillway eastbound reopened after an 18-wheeler jackknifed forcing a closure

The truck leaked fuel and cleanup had the Spillway into New Orleans closed for several hours.

LAPLACE, La. — The eastbound Bonnet Carre Spillway heading into New Orleans reopened after a jackknifed 18-wheeler on the Spillway caused authorities to close it for several hours.

This happened during the early morning commute hours. State Police had to divert traffic onto southbound I-55 at the Laplace exit which caused delays for most early-morning commuters.

The truck leaked fuel and cleanup had the Spillway into New Orleans closed for several hours while crews used sand to clean up the fuel on the roadway.

A heavy-duty tow truck was called to the scene to right the jackknifed truck and trailer.
