St. John Sheriff’s Office finds body floating in Mississippi River

The body was badly decomposed, according to SJSO.

ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH, La. — UPDATE: Authorities have identified the body recovered in the Mississippi River near Edgard on April 24 as Keith Cammon Jr, who was reported missing after his vehicle was found unoccupied on the Veterans Memorial Bridge on Feb. 16.

The St. John Sheriff’s Office says they are investigating after a man's body was found floating in the Mississippi River in Garyville.

The Sheriff's office got a call Wednesday morning around 8:30 a.m. of a body floating in the river at that location. 

SJSO deputies removed the body with the help of the West St. John Fire Department from the river near the levee in Edgard around 11:30 a.m.

The body was badly decomposed, according to SJSO. The identity of the man is unknown at this time.
