St. Tammany prepares for severe weather, Sandbag stations now open

Here is a list of sandbagging stations in the parish.

ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. — As St. Tammany Parish officials brace for a round of severe weather and heavy rain that could bring flooding, the parish opens several locations where you can fill sandbags.

Below is a list of sandbagging stations:

Sandbags will be available at 12 p.m. today at:

* Covington Public Works Barn @ 1305 N. Florida Street, Covington.

* St. Tammany Parish Government Complex @ 21410 Koop Drive, Mandeville.

* Fritchie Public Works Barn @ 63119 Hwy 190, Pearl River.

* Airport Road Public Works Barn @ 34583 Grantham College Road, Slidell.

* Keller Public Works Barn @ 63131 Fish Hatchery Road, Lacombe.

* Old Levee District Site @ 61134 Military Road (Hwy 190), Slidell.

The sandbags are self-service and limited to 15 bags per vehicle. Assistance for elderly or handicapped citizens is available. Please bring your own shovels.

The Inauguration will go on as scheduled at 12 p.m. inside of the Fuhrmann Auditorium in Covington.
